Why use Handy Folders?

It seems like Microsoft Windows is intended for people who only use 3 or 4 files, and never want to create any more! It always tries to direct you to the boring 'My Documents' folder -- forcing you to make additional clicks to get to the folder you need.

Who is using Handy Folders?

If you have many files distributed among different folders, and do not like to expand each time the same multi-level structure to reach your files, the Handy Folders utility is for you! Create a list of your favorite folders like you do in the Internet browser - but expand it to your own PC drives, LAN, or ftp sites, - and you will get to any of these folders with but one click!

How does Handy Folders work?

There are two ways to open the favorite folders list:

  • From a new customizable toolbar embedded in the Windows Explorer and any Open/Save dialog.
  • From a system tray icon or a specified hot key.

The list contains predefined folders and optionally disks on your PC and LAN. Wherever you open the list, just click the location you need: this launches a Windows Explorer instance with the selected folder open.

Configuration is also handy! Again, there are two options for you to choose: either go to the desired location in the Windows or Internet Explorer and click "Add current folder" in the Handy Folders pop-up menu, or open the configuration dialog box and compose the structured list of your favorite locations. If you want to customize the appearance, review other tabs of the configuration dialog; they contain wide variety of settings for all working modes.

When the tool is configured, just feel comfortable: your favorite folders are always at hand.
